Valentina is an illustrator and graphic designer from Chile, currently living in Barcelona. Her main passions are drawing and painting, but she is also working with embroidery. An interesting part of her work is three children books under the name “Hermanas Silva” that she published together with her sister. Currently, Valentina and her friend Gracias Gracia run a design studio called ESE, where they work on book design.
For her print, Valentina illustrated some of the most unusual objects that grabbed her attention during her residency in Bulgaria. Going around and taking some time to notice the places and meet the people, to taste the food, and get to know our culture, she found many things she had never seen and others that were completely different from the knew. This is the first part of her project called "Bulgarian Moai". A print, inspired by an old sculpture in the capital Sofia.
This 3-color silkscreen print was made during an artist residency at NoPoint Atelier in October 2020. It is a limited edition of 11 copies, created entirely by hand - from blending the colors, preparing the screens, and layering the different screens.
